Why wont you buy a company that uses paid advertising to scale?

never say never. BUT.

i don't like advertising because it's a dependency we can't control. just two companies ($FB/$GOOG) capture the majority of all ad spend. if they double prices tomorrow, you might go out of business.

this is why i prefer focusing on things that don't change, like word of mouth. not all businesses are suitable for referrals, thus i'm not interested in all businesses.
